I was informed that I have changed my website to look like Mrs. LaPointes', oops.  I guess she just has good taste.
In class today, we are finishing work on the persuassive paper research.  In fact, Mrs. LaPointe is coming in to teach a few minutes on effective methods of structuring your research.  We are also taking a map quiz.

Continuing work on the persuasive paper.  The students will get the entire hour to look through their sources.  By the end of the hour today students will have completed their worksheet which outlines their persuasive paper.

We are starting our persuasive paper on Egypt with a little research today.  Since many students need a tune-up with regards to proper research we spend most of the hour working through an example.  Following the "Bubble gum" example the students were set loose to research and come up with examples and quotations about their topic.

Today is more or less a review day.  Students will be reviewing the information that we learned yesterday.  Following that, they will read a brief synopsis of Ancient Egypt and the Old Kingdom.

We continued notes on Egypt today by talking about Upper and Lower Egypt.  King Narmer/Menes was introduced as the person able to unite the two countries and create a united Egypt.  Students also reviewed the material we discussed yesterday.

We are starting Egypt notes today.  Geography is on the menu today as we discuss why Egypt is where it is and some of the things that made Ancient Egypt unique.  Also the KWL from yesterday is located in "homework and lesson plans."  Make sure you get the KWL that your hour did.

Pre-test today.  I want to find out what everyone knows about Egypt.  Following the pre-test we will fill out a KWL.

Egypt!  Students are getting into the geography of Egypt by completing a map of Egypt and filling in many important details.  There will be three projects during this unit.  Students will be writing a persuasive 5 paragraph essay, making a cartouche and creating a pyramid.  The essay and cartouche will occur mainly at school.  The only project requiring homework will be the pyramid.  More information will follow shortly.

Bell-ringer:  List three things you "know" about Egypt.

Short/assembly day.  Students watched an introduction movie on Egypt.  We start Egypt on Monday.

Students who took the test yesterday received the opportunity to revise their incorrect answers to show mastery.  Students who did not feel that they needed to do that worked on a Brain-teaser worksheet.
