The students were awesome yesterday, sitting through notes and not complaining (well hardly complaining).  Today we are taking a few notes on Technology and Art and then moving on to something more fun.  The students are going to complete some word searches and coloring sheets on the Greek Olympics.   Should be fun.

Bell-ringer:  What was the difference between the social structure of Sparta in times of war and peace?

Homework:  Study for map quiz.

Yesterday we did not get as far as I wanted, the kids kept getting me to tell stories.  (Their fault not mine)  So today we will be wrapping up the Social Structure of Greece.  Following that we will read the myth of Zeus.  I have a few "fun" papers on the Olympics that the students can do if they do not need to study for their map quiz on Friday.

Bell-ringer:  Who was Draco?

Homework:  Study for map quiz on Friday.

Jumping back into Greece today by talking about the government of Athens and starting Greece's Social Structure.  Also we are reading the myth of Europa.

Bell-ringer:  I gave them a pop quiz.

Homework:  Study for map quiz on Friday and Sparta and Athens worksheet.

I had a substitute yesterday so the students read a story and answered questions as pairs.  Today we are celebrating Chinese New Year.  In my class, the students are making hats.

No bell-ringer.

No homework.

More government.  We get to Sparta and Athens.  Students find out that Sparta runs two different governments depending on if they are at war or not.

Bell-ringer:  Why do we know so little about the Dorians?

Homework:  Keep working on Wanted Poster due Friday.  Government Begins worksheet.

Getting back into the meat of Greece by talking about the government.  Students will be taking some short notes on the ancient Minoans, Mycenaeans, Dorians and hopefully Sparta.

Homework:  Ancient Greek City-states worksheet.
