We are going to start off today grading the homework from yesterday.  We will then review the notes that we took yesterday before starting up new notes on Athens and Sparta.  The homework for tonight is the "Greek City-States" worksheet.

Tuesday

We are returning to the notes today.  The students are first going to review the material that they know from before and then we will take new notes on Greek city-states and hopefully we will get up to Sparta.

Bell-ringer:  What was Odysseus' mistake in his battle with the Cyclops?

Monday

2/8/2010

This weekend I posted the notes and homework packet for Greece.  This is only half of the homework.  The other packet will come later.  Today we are reading the story of the Cyclops and watching a short film version.

Bell-ringer:  What are myths and legends for?

Happy Friday

2/5/2010

If all goes as planned we will be reading some of Homer's Odyssey.  There will be no homework tonight.

Bell-ringer: Why do we have sayings like Achilles heal and Trojan horse?

Thursday

2/4/2010

First thing this morning all of team Spartan will head on down to the auditorium for their academic awards.  In social studies we are starting notes on Greece.  The maps took just a little longer than expected but they look pretty good.  Therefore, the homework tonight is the same as it was yesterday, Mountains and Seas worksheet.

Bell-ringer:  Why do you think the Greeks were very skilled sailors?

Wednesday

2/3/2010

This is the last day that the students get to work on their map.  So far they look pretty good.  If you can make it to parent teacher conferences you should be able to see some of the students handiwork.  There is no homework tonight.

Bell-ringer:  What is the difference between Latitude and Longitude.

Tuesday

2/2/2010

We are continuing to work on the maps from yesterday.  Again there is no homework tonight.

Bell-ringer: What is the difference between a political and physical map?

Yeah! Monday

2/1/2010

Since we are starting Greece, I thought the students should get a better idea of the geography of the region.  The students are making large maps of Greece featuring some of the more prominent physical and political features.  There is no homework tonight.

Bell-ringer: What is a map key?
